Pennsylvania Congressman John Murtha died today. For the private John Murtha I hope his family and friends are embraced by warmth and comfort as they mourn their loved one.

As for the public John Murtha as a member of congress, John Murtha's legacy should be that he broke two of the Ten Commandments, do not bear false witness (Haditha) and don't steal (earmarks and corruption).

The the massacre of Haditha was a Hoax. Civilians did die, but the entire thing was planned by Al Qaeda as a way to embarrass the US. This evidence has been available for almost two years but it was ignored by the media and by ex-marine John Murtha..Semper Fooey John--he abandoned his country and his fellow marines just to further his political ambitions. Worse yet he slandered heroes who were risking their lives to protect his ass.

Buried in the mountain of exhibits attached to the once secret Haditha, Iraq murder inquiry prepared by US Army Maj. Gen. Eldon A. Bargewell is an obscure Marine Corps intelligence summary (see pdf) that says the deadly encounter was an intentional propaganda ploy planned and paid for by Al Qaeda foreign fighters.

Veteran military defense attorney Gary Meyers said he never understood why the Naval Criminal Investigative Service special agents leading the Haditha criminal investigation didn’t “examine the linkage” between Al Qaeda, the local insurgency and the events at Haditha. Meyers was an attorney on the defense team that successfully defended Justin Sharratt, a Marine infantryman accused of multiple murders at Haditha.
